QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS REGARDING WARRANTY

Q: WHAT CAN I DO MYSELF TO MY SUUNTO SPORTS INSTRUMENT AND/OR HEART RATE MONITOR?

A: NOTE! It is advisable to contact an authorized Suunto service, distributor or retailer for any needed repairs.
Batteries and straps can be replaced by user when the change is made in a proper manner to avoid any leakage of water into the battery compartment or computer. Also original battery replacement and strap kits must be used. Batteries can be changed by user to all outdoor and training wristop computers, except 9-series. Instructions for changing batteries and straps can be found from the user manuals at  Download Centre and User Manuals section or from Suunto TV, where we have a selection of How to do videos.

Q: WHAT DOES WATER RESISTANCE IN SUUNTO SPORTS INSTRUMENT AND/OR HEART RATE MONITOR MEAN?

A: Our products are tested with ISO (International Organization for standardization) standard 2281. This means that product is water-resistant. “In addition to the term “water resistant” watches may be marked with an indication of a test overpressure given as a pressure in bars (3bar / 10bar) or as a depth in meters (30/100 meters). These indications however do not correspond to a diving depth but refer to the pressure at which the water overpressure test was conducted”. This means that it is not possible to dive to a depth of 30/100 meter with Suunto outdoor sports instruments or heart rate monitors. Rain, shower, swimming and other normal exposure to water will not effect its operation but the buttons shall not be pressed under water in any circumstances.
NOTE! Outdoor sports instruments and Heart rate monitors are not meant for diving.

Q: WHAT ARE ORIGINAL SUUNTO ACCESSORIES?

A: Original Suunto accessories are distributed only through Suunto’s worldwide network of authorized Suunto distributors and retailers. Original Suunto Accessories are tested to be compatible with Suunto products and therefore can be used safely.
NOTE! Damages caused by non-original accessories will not be covered by warranty.

Q: HOW DO I KNOW IF MY SUUNTO PRODUCT IS COVERED BY WARRANTY?

A: You can see it from the proof of purchase which has to be 2 years or under. You can also see it from the serial number of your unit.

Q:DOES REPAIRING MY SUUNTO PRODUCT EXTEND THE WARRANTY?

A:As far as the national laws permit, repairing the product does not extend or otherwise affect the warranty period. However, part(s) repaired or replacement product(s) provided during the warranty period will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or for three (3) months from the date of repair or replacement, whichever is longer.
